What Are the Health Benefits of Infrared Saunas?

The conventional sauna or Finnish sauna, has been used for more than thousand years. Water will be poured over the heated rocks, so it will create the steam that permeates the air. It is different from the infrared sauna, which works by converting light into heat, as known as “infrared radiant heat”. Infrared radiant heat is an energy which absorbed into your skin, and this method is better than sitting in a humid room. So what is the different between them and what are the health benefits of infrared saunas?

The traditional and the modern sauna need a small room to work well and offer you the best result. The differences between them is not the space required, but the heating source. The modern sauna use a self heat source, and it offers the benefits of being portable and the easy installation. The modern saunas are less expensive too. The installation is easy for beginner, because it does not need you to know specialized knowledge in order to use one in your own house. Different from the traditional one which need a special fire pit in order to heat the rocks and one specific room to be used for sauna only and nothing else. When heating up, the modern sauna will require only 10 to 20 minutes, while the traditional saunas, will need more than an hour.

The other benefits that provided by infrared saunas are far less maintenance. The traditional saunas will need a drainage systems or moisture shields, but you will not need them, if you use the modern sauna. And of course you do not have to worry about the bacteria in the water.

Studies have proven that the health benefits of infrared saunas are mostly the same as the traditional one. Traditional sauna can cure chronic pain and chronic fatigue syndrome. While the modern saunas can cure those one too, plus it can cure the other condition too. Not only that, infrared saunas can cure lung problem and rheumatoid arthritis.

The far infrared heat which is produced by far infrared (FIR) saunas is similar to the sunlight warm effect, but without the ultraviolet (UV light), which is harmful. You can sit in the modern sauna for hours without getting any burns. Another health benefits of infrared saunas is helping people to cure their seasonal affective disorder or vitamin deficiencies.

But there are health benefits of infrared saunas which are not proven scientifically. The health benefits such as weight loss and your body detoxification is merely said by the sauna manufacturers and not by the science studies. But one thing that is true, is health benefits of infrared saunas are much more better than the traditional one.
