Growing Up With Saunas

Growing up in an area where saunas were as common as garages we just assumed that everyone used one to stay clean and well. Sauna sales were virtually unheard of since everyone just built their own next to the lake or in back of the house. If you did not have your own sauna you would use one of the commercial saunas that existed in the community. In most cases these were set up adjacent to the home of the owner. There were no signs pointing to its existence as advertising was done word of mouth.

Once we left home and headed to college we became aware that most of the world did not know of the existence and benefits of the traditional sauna. Since that time much of the country has become aware of the many benefits of using saunas to clean your body of toxins and stimulate your immune system.

Today sauna sales are a multimillion dollar industry. Saunas are now built into homes using the latest technologies. You no longer need to spend a part of each spring cutting and splitting wood necessary to fuel your sauna. Electrical, natural gas and propane stoves now provide the heat necessary to take a hot sauna. Sauna sales now include packaged kits that provide everything you need to build either an indoor or outside sauna. Currently the vast majority of sauna sales are of indoor kits that are frequently situated in a basement.

You can now find a 2, 3 or 4 person sauna that will fit into a spare bedroom or utility room in an existing home or office. Sauna sales of small portable saunas are increasingly becoming more popular. In recent years the barrel sauna has become a popular outside sauna model that is both economical but traditional as well.

Sauna sales prices vary greatly depending on the type and size of the heat source as well as the physical size of the sauna itself. Using good quality traditional wood materials such as white cedar will also increase the cost of the sauna. Many people are contracting the construction and installation of their saunas to specialized sauna contractors. This is wise when installing a sauna in a home where building codes need to be met during construction. Some of the newer portable infrared saunas do not need plumbing and can be simply plugged into an outlet.

The best sauna sales prices are found on the internet. If you are not in a hurry you can take your time and find great deals on eBay and Craigslist. Purchasing a traditional sauna stove from one of the specialty companies in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula or Northern Minnesota will cost you more.

No matter what sauna design you choose to use you can be assured that using a sauna will improve your health and well being. Research has shown that people who use saunas tend to live longer and healthier lives. Start searching for sauna sales and get your sauna built so you can better enjoy life.
