Consider Installing a 3 Person Sauna

If you live in the city or in an apartment then you most likely do not have traditional Finnish sauna in the backyard. Environmental laws and the cost of wood to fire up a traditional wood fired sauna may make it impossible to own and operate in an urban setting. Most traditional sauna are built large enough to handle a full family plus some shirttail relatives that stop by. Many are the size of a small garage. All of which makes it impossible for many people to enjoy all the benefits of a sauna.

However you can have an indoor infrared 3 person sauna set up in most homes and even in some larger apartments. An infrared sauna can be built from a kit in just about any interior room. Normally an infrared 3 person sauna stands less than 80 inches in height and is less than 60 inches wide. Depth is normally less than 48 inches. So basically if you have an area that has access to a 120 volt plug in and is 5 feet by 4 feet in size you have room for the basic 3 person sauna.

In addition you must be aware of the floor load bearing rating for the room you are placing the sauna into. A 3 person sauna can weigh as much as 450 pounds. While this sounds like a lot of weight you must understand that it is spread over an approximate 20 foot square area. If you have a concern about the ability or your home or apartment being able to withstand the load then you should contact the manufacture for guidance. Many people find it is more convenient to place their 3 person sauna in the basement on a concrete floor.
